Leaders’ ‘Walk the Walk’ Challenge Launched

Promoting healthy living has always been a high priority for the BSA. So much so, in fact, that last year we officially introduced our healthy living initiative, which seeks to make sure Scouts and all young people are healthy in mind, body, and spirit. As part of this initiative, we are working both with first lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move program to solve the challenge of childhood obesity, and with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition to empower youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition.

To help our leaders set a strong example, a new BSA Fit site has been launched on scouting.org that features resources for living a healthy life. In addition, a series of “Walk the Walk” blogs are included that will track the progress of BSA leaders and staff members as they strive to improve their health through diet and exercise.
