Webinar Walks Councils Through Employee Handbook Update Process
All councils have been encouraged to update their employee handbooks by year-end using the new Local Council Employee Handbook Guidelines document on MyBSA (Resources > BSA Resources > Council Employee Handbook Guidelines). To help with that process, four, 60-minute webinars were conducted in September and early October.
If you were unable to participate in one of the webinars, a recording of the Oct. 5 session is now available online. (You must have AT&T Connect software on a Windows-based PC to listen.) The full presentation includes a question-and-answer session at the end.
Local Council Employee Handbook Guidelines Update
Since the original publication, there has been one change to the guidelines. On page 31, under “Medical Leave of Absence” chart, the following line has been added:
Number of years of continuous employment Percent salary and duration
15 or more 100 percent for first 120 days
Other Resources
A PowerPoint presentation that was mentioned in the webinars for use by Scout executives when rolling out this new handbook to their staffs also is available.

Do you mean 15 or more YEARS?
Tina,
Yes, 15 or more years. If you look at the story above, “15 or more” appears below the heading “Number of years of continuous employment,” so that’s what it’s referring to. Likewise, “100 percent for the first 120 days” is referring to the heading, “Percent salary and duration.”
The formatting is a little tricky on this page, so I apologize if it’s not clear.
