There’s Still Time! Say Thanks to the Chief in Three Words
Chief Scout Executive Bob Mazzuca will be retiring at the end of August. Many have said Bob’s leadership not only inspired BSA youth, volunteers, and staff, but led to many positive differences and outcomes for our organization. And, we’ve heard folks would like the opportunity to let Bob know the impact he has had. If you’re one, here’s your chance.
Join in sharing examples of the difference Bob has made. From your smartphone or handheld camera, shoot a photo or record a brief but creative video of not more than 15 to 20 seconds for inclusion in a video montage that will be played at Bob’s retirement dinner.
To make this fun and interesting, your photo or video needs to include three words that express a difference Bob’s leadership made … and they must be visual.
How? To illustrate, watch this sample “Your Week in Three Words” video segment from the TV show “Good Morning America.”
See? With just a little creativity, you can say a lot very quickly, and with just three words.
So, what words and visual embody for you a meaningful outcome from Bob’s leadership encouraging us to better tell the Scouting story, engage more youth, provide quality Scouting experiences, help you and your council succeed, or motivate staff and volunteer leaders to go the extra mile:
- Twenty new Cub Scouts!
- Turned council around
- New camp programs
- Raised more $
- You inspired us
- New Hispanic troop!
- Eliminated operating debt
- Found new donors
- Told our story
- Innovative solution found
- Discovered new vision
- Renewed our passion
- Reached new community
- Prepared. For Life.
- Bob Mazzuca rocks!
No impact is too big or too small to send in. Write your three words on your palm or arm, cut it out in letters, paste it (strategically—and tastefully) over your body, use signs and props. Shoot it with your digital camera, webcam, or cellphone.
You can appear by yourself or with others, but we encourage you to involve Scouts, leaders, and/or staff. And if you can, shoot it in a place that viewers catch a sense of where you’re from. Feel free to pass this along. All BSA staff, volunteers, and youth are welcome to submit a photo or video.
Please send electronic files for download to Kathleen Medina.
You may use one of several online services to send large files, including yousendit.com and dropbox.com, or you can mail a DVD (saved as data, not programmed) to the national office, attention Kathleen Medina, SUM 316. High-definition videos are preferred.
To help in our planning, if you’ll be submitting an entry to the Bob Mazzuca Retirement Video montage, please send a quick email note now to Kathleen Medina.
Questions? Contact Kathleen via email or at 972-580-2293.
Please note: Bob will receive a DVD with all submissions since all may not be able to be used in the dinner video.
