National Youth Protection Symposium Provides Forum for Youth-Serving Organizations
The BSA joined with the nation’s leading youth-serving nonprofits and nationally recognized experts at the National Youth Protection Symposium last week in Atlanta.
The symposium—which was hosted by the BSA’s Youth Protection office and facilitated by the executive director of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, Dr. Michael Haney—was designed to provide an opportunity for nonprofit, youth-serving organizations to discuss the subject of child sexual abuse prevention, hear from leading experts in the field, and share ideas on best practices to collectively find more effective ways to address this issue.
The combined efforts of the nationwide youth-serving organizations that participated in the event positively affect the lives of more than 17 million youth. Attending organizations included Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the YMCA of the USA, the United Methodist Church, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
