Two Georgia Councils Merge to Create South Georgia Council

The former Chehaw Council No. 97 in Albany, Georgia, has merged with the former Alapaha Area Council No. 98 in Valdosta, Georgia, to form the new South Georgia Council, No. 98, headquartered in Valdosta, Georgia. The effective date of this consolidation, as recorded with the State of Georgia, was Nov. 1. Matt Hart, Scout executive of the former Alapaha Area Council, will serve as the Scout executive for the new South Georgia Council.

The Merger Team is actively engaged in updating the BSA’s data systems (ScoutNet, MyBSA, MyScouting, etc.) and is expecting to complete their work by Monday, Nov. 19.
