New Major Gift Seminar Will Give Your Council Strategies, Tools

The BSA Foundation is offering a special major gifts seminar, “Gift Planning for Your Council’s Second Century,” March 6–8 at Harrah’s Hotel in the heart of the Strip in Las Vegas, Nev. The seminar will focus on:

  • How to create an ask strategy for every major council donor
  • Learning more about the best gift strategies and non-cash gifts under the new tax act
  • Matching up your best donors with the most effective gifts for them
  • Engaging and involving your volunteers in the major gift process
  • Making your council’s case for major gifts

The seminar begins Wednesday, March 6, at 1:30 p.m., and formally ends March 8at noon. Evenings will be free. At no additional cost, there is an optional session on March 8from 1:30 p.m.–3 p.m. focusing on actual donor case studies. And, if you’re a race fan, the BSA’s NASCAR team will race in Las Vegas the next day, March 9!

We guarantee that Scout executives and council volunteers and staff with major gifts responsibilities will leave this seminar more effective, informed, and comfortable with getting new major gifts—and better prepared for Journey to Excellence criteria 2 and 3! It’s also a great opportunity to work personally and directly with some of the Foundation’s major gifts officers on your unique council and donor needs.

The special BSA room rate at Harrah’s is $80 per night. To reserve your room, please call 888-458-8471 and ask for the BSA Foundation room block, or visit our special BSA online hotel reservations site. The seminar registration fee is $200 per person, which includes all materials, breaks, and breakfast on both mornings.

Seminar registration is available online.
