BSA Goes Fishing: BSA, FLW Tour Pro Tom Redington Announce Partnership
The BSA has formed a partnership with professional bass angler Tom Redington to help teach Scouts about the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) aspects of the outdoors and fishing and to encourage young people to become active in the outdoors.
Tournament fishing is a rapidly growing sport, especially at the high school and college levels, so the BSA’s fishing program gives members a head start for competing at these levels. This new partnership will give Scouts inside access to cutting-edge techniques and trends in fishing, through exclusive online content from Redington.
Redington is in his fifth year as a professional on the Forrest L. Wood (FLW) Outdoors Tour and host of “Big Bass Battle” on NBC Sports and World Fishing Network (WFN). He also serves as a bass fishing guide on the world-famous Lake Fork, located in East Texas.
“The traditions of the Boy Scouts of America are synonymous with fishing and the outdoors, so this partnership is a natural fit,” said Redington. “As the father of a Tiger Cub and as a volunteer for the organization, I am looking forward to sharing my passion for the outdoors with our nation’s youth.”
